hi.undoubtedly trackers are "the tool of choice" for musicmaking.but are there any (have you ever heard about) trackers with tracks runing from left-to-right,sequencer-like,or maybe a way to configure any known tracker app which would give wanted result.don't know why,but my mind simply refuses to think in a "up-to-down" way.any suggestions will be appreciated.

Do you mean like a MIDI piano roll?

None of the classic DOS trackers or any of their early Windows brethren will do any left-to-right scrolling.  That has mostly to do with early trackers using text-based graphics and the fact that stacking up the notes and note data takes up less space on screen then putting notes side by side.  You've got 80 columns by 25 rows in DOS text mode, meaning you've got more room for putting tracks side by side than you do for stacking them up.

The only places I've seen left-to-right scrolling are MIDI sequencers and their descendants, like Sonar or Cubase.

My first PC music software was Tracks, a very VERY old MIDI sequencer (Windows 3.1), so I know what you mean by the confusing top-to-bottom arrangement.  Then I got Scream Tracker 3 and Impulse Tracker 2.14 right after that.  I just had to get used to it.

Just spend some time getting used to the interface.  After a while, you won't even notice it.  That's the best thing I can recommend.

the first tracker i ever used was a DOS program called "Soundclub"
it was a left to right TRACKER

This makes me oldschool, but there was a DOS tracker that went in piano-roll style. Modedit one of the last versions, did this, and I've been waiting/hoping for a GUI tracker that has anywhere near the simple style of this. (of course i was also waiting for a tracker that has an onboard sampler/sampleditor A la FT2, thank you milkytracker!) if only a decent tracker with a nice gui (read: NOT Impulse-esque) would come out and also have a piano-roll style editing function (and of course onboard sample tweaking/editing) I would be in heaven. I'm lately trying to find Linux equivalents of various software that I love on Wintel, if only an app with the user friendliness of OMPT would come out, (HINT HINT any devs of OMPT!) Anyone have anything close? I'm using Milky right now. I love that they have a WM version too the only tracker I know of for windows CE/mobile.
