For DOS people.

It's always good to have a sample editor. Sampled 1.24 as suggested by Blaster is good:

Paul's Sound Designer 2.2 is a very, very nice sampler for DOS.  It comes with about 130 presets, which you can create using the included batch file.  All you have to do after that is learn how to create your own samples.  And it's free!  Well, it's Donation-ware.
