To all you label/group honchos out and any other knowledgeable people out there...

I'm currently in the process of founding a new music group. For this purpose, I'm looking for a suitable webhosting solution. Could anybody advise me about the minimum amount of traffic I'd require? Anyone running a group/label: how much traffic does your website attract (on a monthly basis)?

Of course, it's not that difficult to make a rough estimate, but I don't want any surprises. As you'd understand, I dislike the possible prospect of paying extra for excess traffic, or paying for traffic the website doesn't even get.

I can't tell how much traffic such sites would generate, but this hosting provider might be something for you:
http://www.siteground.com/. I haven't read the small print, but it offers 40GB of space and 900GB of traffic and a domain for $4.95/month. That's one of the best deals I've seen.

Oh, I'm not so concerned about prices. Some initial research by me showed plenty of good deals combined with customer satisfaction (for my hunt I tend to browse consumer-oriented sites which include customer comments in their comparisons). I'm guessing for the short term merely a few hundred megs of storage will be sufficient as well. It's really the traffic issue I need to tackle before deciding. I'm not considering webhosts outside my country (Netherlands) for the moment, having to do with payment issues (because I'd really prefer the possibility of direct bank transfer, which may be hard to come by outside my country).

Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Ok, well you can pay siteground via Paypal. You use bank transfer to transfer funds to paypal and paypal to pay for your hosting. This works ok (I'm also from the Netherlands and have used this before)..

A better solution is to have your files hosted somewhere else (and for free).. for example http://www.ourmedia.org/ which is linked to http://www.archive.org/.

I must admit I never delved too deep into the world of Paypal and the likes. Thanks for that hint.
