hi everyone. i'm new to tracking, and i recently started with MilkyTracker after lots of hesitation and so on. i have a sample that can be downloaded here. i wanted to add maybe some strings with the sequence: e4 e4 e4 a5 a5 e4 e4 e4 g4 g4 e4 e4 e4 g4 g4 e4 g4 e4, but the instruments i have propagate too long, so it doesn't sound good. i don't really understand the effects commands. is there something i can get to read so i can easily make the notes shorter? that way it should sound better. thanks in advance

have you checked out the documentation on the milkytracker site?

Yup, that's a sad excuse because I don't know any effects that could help you with that from the top of my head. You also have note off and note cut commands that might be of help. I don't think there's New Note Action? There are trackers where you can set instrument properties so the old note is cut or faded out when a new note is played on the same channel.

I haven't used fasttracker 2 or a clone of it and am not familiar with the shortcuts and options.

Sounds like you need to use some "note-off"s.  Took me like 6 months to figure that out when I first started tracking; I shudder when i think of the hours I wasted clipping .wav files into different, more useable lengths...  But maybe I'm just a dumbass.  I dunno.

Well, in fasttracker u can in the last lane (000) give the offset command, which is in fasttracker 9 to $100 for the during of the sample so u can shorten it at any time....

hop this is usefull for what u seek...
