Modlight is all about putting an artist or module in the spotlight. It's about the classics of the music scene. The ones everyone should have heard and should know. To kick off this series we give you: 4-mat.

A google search for 4-mat mod reveal a huge number of modules created by 4-mat. Other than that there's little information about this tracker. I had to descend into the depths of the internet archive to retrieve more information, but I failed in this mission. I did find some info and quoted that below.

Mods In Memoriam had this to say about 4-mat:
Quote
English prodigy 4-Mat was possibly the first person ever to make 'chip'-tunes on the Amiga by looping tiny samples to make reallyreallysmall .MODs

and Video Game Or Chip (VORC) says:
Quote
aka Matthew Simmonds. Generally gets credit for being first with the Amiga MOD-chip music. He made such earliest chiptunes including Autumn, Knighthawk and Space Journey during June/July 1989, and is still composing music for games and C64-demos.

I attached 4 of his mods to this post. These 4 chiptunes have all got great melodies and are among the best I've ever heard. Except Phantasmagoria the modules are just over a minute long. Not to be missed for all you old-school chiptune fans.
