Hiya... What happened to the old site? I tried to read the "more info" at the "old site" page but it's busted. What did I miss? No more database of trackers and their works??
Sorry if this is waaaay old news to all of you. Real life has kept me out of the scene over the last year.

The old site wasn't being properly administrated due to lack of admin controls and the site was becomming stale. Over the years United Trackers has been used for its forum above all else. The new administration is just that. New. They put the current United Trackers together based on a redesign that went nowhere a couple years ago. The great thing about it is it's now 110% more useable.
The old music database was more of a portal than anything else. It was full of broken links and as a previous admin I can tell you lacked a lot of features which would have made it manageable. Besides that it wasn't really being used.
I hope you enjoy the new version of United Trackers. They've done a great job of "keeping the music scene alive"!

If you're interested in looking for music, I would also like to mention that Sounding Board - an offshoot of the old UT, is still up, and providing music links and reviews. They're a little slow these days, but they are a great community, and they're still active. Check them out in our affiliates section.

btw, can I please extend a well founded good luck to the Sounding Board which tried to remove the UT name? Thanks. It was ill founded and ill deserves and UT recognition.
SB admin: Discard your foolish founder. He did not deserve our thanks. He could have at least worked with us instead of building a name based on our hit rate.Sounding board will remain a Novus ideal.

Despite his January 3rd denouncement of the scene, Novus did have a few good ideas in his day. I'm not saying I support or condone his current attitude (I don't - he's being a childish dumbass), but calling all Novus' ideas stupid because he's bitter and being childish right now, is not a reason for a scene to ignore his previous contributions.
I think it's article-writing time. I could editorialize on how much of a prick Novus is being, and his ignorance of those that supported him (Such as myself, in the debates on Scene Rep), or I could describe how his pattern of starting something controversial, getting people to argue and criticize, then getting angry, and disappearing because people start thinking for themselves and turn the idea into something different instead of what he wanted, is just occuring on a much grander scale right now. I'd have tons of material. Instead, I think I'll try and bring something good from it...

Glad you've come to your senses. Have you read the article? I'd be interested in your opinion on it. It's in the editorials under the Articles section - The only one there for the moment.
And BTW... I don't think that the Manifesto had a bad message - But I think you've nailed it on the head with the attitude part - If you dish it out, be prepared to take it in... As I've said before - you were the self-proclaimed fun-loving shit-disturber of the scene, and your contribution was in provoking thought, moreso than the message you originally sent. If you can accept this and realize this, then I think your manifesto has achieved some sort of success regardless of what your initial intentions were.

I have indeed read it; I discovered it after my previous post in this thread. It's not entirely accurate about my reasons for leaving, but that's just because you're not psychic. You certainly did your homework, and it was a great read.
