i was very happy about the feedback recieved on the previous post on tracker preferences.

i would like to know how long have you been at it.
i guess it could help people who are just getting started, not to get frustrated. things take time.

you could even describe your progress over the years, what was the  most difficult period, your musical background and similar.

i would appreciate it very much.

so write on:)

thanks

I used Modplug for 5 years, and mastered it only in the last two. Now I'm starting to use Renoise.

Four years with Impulse Tracker. It took me about a year and a half before I wrote anything decent-sounding in it, though I'm still improving and still discovering new things.

I've been using Impulse Tracker since 1995 (wow almost ten years now). My most difficult period has been the last three years because I can't bring myself to compose anything serious, or anything I want to share.

Psycle for about 1 year., MPT before that about 2 years. But I haven't mastered either one, yet, though I believe my Psycle skills have improved.

My problem phase is probably before the beginning of every new track cheesy .

Well, for me it's often actually finishing what I started Smiley.

I've been tracking on and off since 1996.  My first introduction to tracked music was in 1994, and I was an immediate fan, even though I was stuck with PC Speaker at the time...  In fact I gave up on tracking until I got my first sound card (an ATI SoundFX - SB 1.0 clone with crappier sound/support and less audio channels.  Couldn't even get digital sound in DOOM, but it worked with IT).

I still have an old IT song that I downloaded, by a Burlington, Ontario group called "The Meathook Gang", from a board called "The Raving Loonatic" - The song is called "Just Like You", and it's chock-full of quotes worth hunting down and watching the movies...  It's an OK song too...
