my friend has been tracking for a long time now. but for the last few years he keeps trying to run programs that  the crappy computers he has had just can't handle. for a long time i tryed to convince him to use something that could actually run well. right now hes using fruity loops but he can't write full,....real songs because his computer sucks. it can't even run 8 tracks at the same time. it can't even handle the fruity loops demo for god sakes. so everthing he writes is like a fat beat with  1 uncomplex rhythem part or something like that.so anyway i think i finally got through to  him, but he hasen't been able to get anything he tryed to run on it. his computer is running win98 he has like one of the first pentum 2s ever and i guess its bearly, if at all more powerfull then a pentium 1, i don't know what kind of a sound card he has or the other tec specs really but its all pretty consistent with being top of the line in 98 or a little later . he started on some really old lame shit ,then scream tracker, then impulse for a little while, then buzz[the first thing 1 of his lame computers couldn't handle } now fruity loops.  so can you guys suggest some good trackers that he might be able to utilise to its full potentiail on his set up?

MadTracker
It is very light, loads fast and is very optimized. He should try the latest beta (2.5.0 RC3).

ModPlug Tracker is also very light and fast.

The other Windows trackers will be too "heavy" it seems.

I guess Modplug Tracker will do or indeed IT.

Your friend could try Madtracker 2 too.

Modplug Tracker. I used to track in a 233MHz Pentium, 64MB RAM with it. Only had some problems (not that bad) when useing more than 50 channels.

Impulse Tracker runs smoothly even on my old 486DX2/50MHz. It is a DOS-program, but it'll run from within the Windows shell as well. It can be pretty tough to learn, though, so if your friend is used to Fruity Loops (which, to me, seems easier to use), there's a rather steep learning curve to overcome. http://www.noisemusic.org/it

nah man he started,....or at least he got good on scream tracker and then used impulse tracker for a couple months then his hard drive crashed ...........   and thats when things started going wrong. the first verson of buzz he used wouldn't even play the other tracks when he was writing new tracks .it was purely mathmatical. it sucked. well anyway i guess he tryed  to put in impulse like that and he couldn't get it. though  to be fare i don't  know if the verson he got even worked.i just say that because i and another guy i know has tryed to get impulse tracker severial times from this 1 sight and it never worked when we got it.
